Iron Templar Contemptor Dreadnought
by sword brethren
Forge World's Contemptor Pattern Dreadnought is a model loved by some and loathed by others. I like it and I like this version put together by sword brethren for his homemade chapter the Iron Templars.
The colour scheme is simple and uncomplicated and well thought through. The overall effect is grimy and very battle worn. But what caught my eye are the modelling touches applied by sword brethren that has transformed a rather bland basic dreadnought model (that has none of the built-in trinkets of other current 40K models) into something much more individualistic.
I don't know much about sword brethren's Iron Templars, but I can tell instantly from the large storm shield that has been used as a templar cross and the addition of a few distinctive chains that they are proud Black Templar successors. The point being it only takes a few well considered items to transform a model into something more eye-catching (boltgun armour plate aside). Proving that a little, more often than not, can be much much more.
A dynamic 'striding' pose makes this dread look pretty fearsome and give it bags of character — and well based too in colours that perfectly compliment the model.
